Oatmeal Dog Shampoo Malaysia: The Davis Oatmeal Routine
Short answer: Davis makes three oatmeal products that work as one routine. Baking Soda & Oatmeal Shampoo (10:1) cleans and deodorizes, Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo (10:1, 2% colloidal oatmeal) is the second wash for very dry skin, and Oatmeal Leave-On Conditioner stays in after the bath. For most dry or sensitive skin, the first and last are enough.

Which routine
- Dry skin, light flakes, short coats (pug, French bulldog): Baking Soda & Oatmeal, then Oatmeal Leave-On.
- Very dry, flaky skin: Baking Soda & Oatmeal, then Oatmeal & Aloe, then Oatmeal Leave-On.
- Smelly dog with dry or sensitive skin: Baking Soda & Oatmeal, then Oatmeal Leave-On.
- Cats, puppies, kittens, senior pets: start with the oatmeal routine, or the trial set.
What colloidal oatmeal is
Colloidal oatmeal is oats ground very finely so they disperse in water. It is one of the most common ingredients in shampoos made for dry and sensitive skin. Davis Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo states its strength on the label: 2% colloidal oatmeal.
Mix it right
Both oatmeal shampoos are 10:1 concentrates: about 45ml in the 500ml Davis dilution bottle, then top up with water. Oatmeal Leave-On is not diluted. Mixing the shampoo stronger does not help; it leaves residue, and residue is what dry skin reacts to.
How to use the oatmeal routine
- Brush out loose flakes and dead coat.
- Wet with lukewarm water.
- Baking Soda & Oatmeal, diluted 10:1. Leave 3 to 5 minutes, rinse.
- For very dry skin, Oatmeal & Aloe, diluted 10:1. Leave 3 to 5 minutes, rinse well.
- Work Oatmeal Leave-On through the coat to the skin. Do not rinse.
- Dry on a cool or warm setting.
Every 1 to 2 weeks.

Oatmeal shampoo or a medicated shampoo?
Oatmeal shampoos are for everyday dry, flaky or sensitive skin and are diluted 10:1. The Davis Medicated Series is different: ready-to-use shampoos built around a named active such as chlorhexidine or miconazole, usually chosen because a vet named that active.
