How to bathe a cat

  1. Brush first. Long-haired cats especially: work out mats while the coat is dry.
  2. Use lukewarm water and a non-slip mat. Keep water away from the face and ears.
  3. Apply the diluted shampoo and work it through quickly and gently.
  4. Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Cats lick their coat, so anything left behind gets swallowed.
  5. Towel-dry, then dry fully in a warm room or with a quiet dryer on a low setting.

Mix it right

The most common mistake with a concentrate is mixing it too strong. More shampoo does not clean more; it leaves residue in the coat, and residue is what makes skin itchy and coats smell again quickly.
